I was feeling somewhat nostalgic the last couple of days, so I went browsing through my photographs I took on my trip to Europe.Our flight to Paris from Barcelona got delayed by 6hours. We arrived in Paris just before midnight, exhausted and with no clue where to go. I shot this as we walked out onto the street from the underground somewhere near where we were supposed to stay.

Rather cliché but what the hell - A beautiful welcome to Paris if you ask me.

I always thought this was going to take time, but it's taking so much more time than I ever thought it would. Nor am I sleeping much due to my room smelling like wet paint. The electrician also hung my new light way to low, so every time I walk under it I get concussed. In other news I FINALLY finished the roll thats in my camera. well done to me. so this weekend I intend to drop it off and get it developed. Fingers crossed that this time all my photo's will come out and not just some random ones in between. never can trust old things all that well. Which means that at some stage next week I will be posting some pics for the last couple of months.

As a replacement for daises, I decided to buy two bottles of wine, these two bottles, along with some snacks, will be going with me to Herman, and we are going to sit on the floor, drink from mugs, sing false to whatever itunes plays us, and even boogy if it gets to that point. Oh and snacks will be eaten from old army tin plates and cans. I found them, I want to use them.

Off to have coffee with Horn. Caffeine bitch.

It's funny how things work out. When you think you got let down, something comes right along or in my case you get spiked and end up with it while minimal and bass is making my head explode with beats and I can feel the blood in every inch of my body slow down, and my vision goes and comes back. Also, I managed to build a website, with the help of a friend and his skills, and ofc lots of ciders and beers, but it's done. success. The last couple of weeks and the past weekend has better than I could have asked for.

So I heard on Friday that some of my work got into the Loerie finals - fuck YES. Been working my ass off, and it seems it's all paying off.

So to celebrate I went out last night. I didn't plan on having such a party, but like always, it ended up being one with some intense needed convo with a dear friend. Woke up this morning (somewhat later than I thought) made my way to the heated flooring, and there I sat while my sibling made me coffee, as far as life working on this campaign goes, I'm counting down the seconds till it's over and in the past. It's getting on my nerves way to much. Along with all the other shit happening right now. I'm just craving a holiday.

I have a shitload of work to do before Monday hits. Porti must be done, visiting the design studio I'm keen to intern at in the morning so that is number one right now. Got to get this shit done. But, yet again I'm dreading Monday, or this coming week for that matter. Not due to college work, but personal stuff. It might be a great week, but it might be one that I'll just want to forget. I'll let you know how it goes.

I woke up this morning unable to really swallow. ( Probably the cause of minimal sleep due to the workload looming overhead. ) So I sat down and counted my cents, went to the clicks around the corner and got myself some advil and corenza. This really took the last couple coins I have on my name. Well that I want to spend that is. A girl needs money for going out you know. well, some money, generally drinks sort themselves out.

Im typing this from college btw. I got capped last night. - And since I'm currently flat broke buying more is simply not an option. Last night I had a (ONE) bagel with butter for dinner. And the fact that I even had that bagel is surprising. But who needs food when you have coffee, smokes hub and good music? Other news: I have turned my Marlboro's into Red Apple cigarettes, Saturday night I will become Mia Wallace. All the way. Down to a t. Minus the O.D. I think. I haven't been partying in Obz in a while.- Apart from drinking copious amounts of wine at the friends place. Looking forward to show Obz what I'm made of. Or what Mia Wallace is made of.

The Shoot went well. Really fun, had a couple of laughs, poll-danced around a street sign / park sign - the location had no wind, which was great. Looking forward to seeing the photo's. The two or three that I did peep at looked good.

I plan on visiting fort knox this weekend, they have steak. well somebody stole the steak.- three guys in one flat, steak in the fridge - I can see how that would happen. But I'll be swinging by. They also have good coffee. and I love sitting on the semi warn out couch in between the million gig posters that cover all the walls while listing to some great music. Then I'll be heading back home to work. That will be my break. And a great break it will be.

one weekend of "no I'm not going to be going out much" turned into - out on every night. but it was great. headaches, pills to stop them, 21st, fashion label launch. free patron - can't complain. - a world where buttons gets you booze is a world that I want to live in.

tomorrow I'll be dropping off more frames, and in the afternoon I have a shoot. No idea what I'l be wearing but I'm amped, should be a good one. then my week will become a worked packed one, no sleep and copious amounts of coffee that will give a lesser human a heart attack.

What a day. College, followed by a meeting - very rad things to come. amped. work (some photography and illustrations) will be in a store soon. this makes me happy. Got home, went to a friend's flat for dinner, watched some box, went home, then I had a cleaning frenzy and cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom. I do this at times. Tomorrow it's wake up and straight to my other home. Got loads of things to organize.

I just looked through the persians album of barcelona. Fuck me that was one hell of trip. With every click I'm aching to be back there! The mexiCANS ha! (This is a story for another time). Oh right, so the fucker who owns the flat that I want, doesn't answer his phone, nor does he get back to me. - This is not a good sign. no no no.

I am home. and it's great to be back. I love cape town. I will always love this place. Missing barcelona and the Lebanese boy. It's freezing here.

I found this pic amongst the million that I took. I feel like this right now. I GAVE MY HEART TO YOU BARCELONA

WOW. that sums up my trip so far. But let me being from the beginning. Right, so we left for Barcelona a week ago, arrived at the airport and got a bus to plaza catalunya. Took out the map and walked down to our hostel, in the Barri Gothic. Arrived at the Equity point Gothic to be greeted by Paulo, the very friendly reception guy. Who informed us that we are all going to the hottest club in Barcelona that evening round 12 or 1, and that the following night would be San Juan.

This is how we met Brian, Julien and Tania. Brian, who is American, is the current party planner and go to guy for the parties in Barce, and Julien who Brian's job before for 6months. Anyhow, we met an awesome Australian girl, Tania, in our room.

After settling into our room, we went inside, Julien offered that I can use his laptop - french keyboard. DEATH. we also found out that he is leaving Barcelona after living there for 6months and will be on the same flight to Paris that we are on, he has a flat there and he is returning to pack up the last of his things in Paris.

After some beer with Julien and the Persian while watching the footie at the hostel, we got all dressed up and met the rest of the people in the hostel drank beer for the market across the street, and headed towards OPIUM. The club is amazing. Started off relatively mellow, but then the dancers came out, the drinks flowed, and the second dance floor opened up, the music tripled in volume and we danced like mad with who ever was close to you at that stage till about 4 or 5 I can't remember. We got a cab home and passed out. Woke up the next day, went inside for breakfast, saw Julien, who then told us about San Juan and that we are all going.

Let me summarize San Juan for you - Myself, The Persian, Tania, Champagne, rum, fire on the beach, fireworks, thousands of people, The Italians, The Americans, The pommies, The Spanish, The Lebanese, The MexiCANS - hell yeah, guitars, dancing, swimming, the Persian passing, getting my ass kissed - literally, the rising sun of the longest day to come, pizza by the harbour, and a merry walk back to the hostel at 7am while chanting San Juan in mumbles and seeing passed out couples on benches everywhere. BEST PARTY OF MY LIFE.

Of course in between these two mad parties, The Persian and I managed to go to The Picasso museum, the MNAC (Musea Nacional dArt de Catalunya) - This is where I fell asleep on the stairs while lying on the warm tiles outside listing to a guy playing spanish music on a guitar after sketching him, Palau Nacional de Montjuic, all of Gaudi's buildings, including the Sagrada Familia and park Guell, Sarria, Plaza d"Espanya, various different parks, and plaza's and restaurants, and Irish pubs for the footie, private galleries, and tones of walking around. Not even to mention the great photo's I took, can't wait to get them developed and to get the digitals on my laptop.

All in all I have fallen in love with Barcelona, and I will def be returning there, hopefully for 4 or 6months, just to paint and design. I have made some friends, who has offered me a place to stay and who has good friends that are in the art circles in Barcelona. So I will def be taking the offer and returning, hopefully in a year or so.

We met up with Julien at the airport. Our flight got delayed by about a hour or more. sat around, we were all really sad to leave, Julien more so. And I can imagine how Barcelona can creep into your heart in 6 months.

After arriving in Paris the three of us got some underground tickets and made our way into Paris, we got off at our stop, and Julien continued to his flat. The Persian and I got off at volontaires stop and walked to the hostel from there. It was even hotter in Paris than in Barcelona! Anyhow, we got up to our room, and saw glitter, crazy huge heels and feathers, sceptical of who our new roomies where, we headed out to find some food, having been delayed we only arrived in Paris around 8 and got to the hostel around 10 or 11. Being Paris, all the restaurants where closing. - unlike Barcelona where everything is open almost all the time. We ending up buying some toast things and cheese and headed back to the hostel. Our roomies. - two male transvestites from Singapore, in Paris for the gay parade. This was quite an experience.

The following night I got a migraine while walking to meet up with Julien and his friends, The Persian and I went looking for a pharmacy- and as we asked a family for direction the wife pulled out some pills that are specifically for migraines, she was very friendly and gave me an entire strip, explaining that I must only take one, since two will trip me out and make me fall asleep. So I took one, ate a pizza and within 20min I felt like I was on cloud 9, no migraine, no pains whatsoever. Just happiness. We met up with Julien and some of his friends (Among them, Marion a really nice french girl, and Adam, the guy who offered to organize me a place to stay in Barcelona with his friends, as he is also going back there end of this year) in the park by the Eiffel tower- people everywhere, wine and beer as far as the eye can see, played guitar the Persian got a little hammered. Amazing night in front of a shining Eiffel tower.

The following night the two transvestites left and we got two nice girls from California as roomies, we ended up taking a "nap"which lasted until 10 the next morning... this was the result of about 3 hours sleep every night before. (on average)

In between our evening activities we saw the Eiffel Tower, The Arc de Triomphe, walked down the Champs - Elysees, saw the grand Palais, (Palais de la Découverte), Place de la Concorde, Jardin des Tuileries, Musée du Louvre, Centre Pompidou (by far my fav - fucking amazing art), the Notre Dame, Sacré Coeur (amazing) - This is where the persian had a crepe with enough nutella to feed a small population for a year- on the night before we left Julien and his friends met up with us near our hostel, well just down the street, where we ended up chilling on the sidewalk drinking bottles of wine, then said our goodbyes. The next day we went to Jardin du Luxembourg and ate fresh cherries on the grounds, watched kids playing with their little sail boats in the fountain. beautiful.

The Persian and I headed back to the Hostel got our bags and made our way back to Holland. I will miss Barcelona the most, Paris was good, but nothing can beat Barce.

I will forever remember this trip, and the friends I made great people great parties and places. Amazing.

THE MEET UP

So my trip from Friesland to the persian ladyface. I got on a train at 14;00 ish, not knowing exactly where to get off and hop onto the next one. Anyway about 15min into my trip a group of Italians stepped onto the train, it was really packed so we were all crammed into the tiny little space by the door, and since I had all my travel bags with me I couldn't exactly move through inbetween all the seats, so I just stayed right there. So as I was saying - the Italians - The one started singing, at first I thought nothing much of it, but then I looked up and he was looking at me - and singing. awkward. I said nothing and pretended to be busy on my blackberry, he stopped and ate a kitkat... strange. I managed to understand the guy over the intercom and got onto the following (correct) train YES! and thus I ended up in den haag. great success. The persian ladyface came to pick me up - reunion!

and, I missioned around on a bicycle today for the first time in 3 or 4 years. My ass is rather sore, but it was worth it since I got a tub of ben and jerries and a great long shirt/pullover/dress / jumper thing that you can wear over leggings from a designer store for only 10e. i love sales. I also watched the footie in a rad tent thing in a park - hup holland!!

so all in all, my trip sofar has been awesome. It's so great to be with the persian ladyface again (she is giving me a thumbs up as I type this) and I can't wait for Barcelona!
